Italy’s Motus Theatre returned to New York with NELLA TEMPESTA, the third and final production in La MaMa’s Tempest 3 series.
Motus’ Nella Tempesta creates a short circuit between Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Une TempĂȘte by AimĂ© CĂ©saire. Reflecting on the turmoil in our society and the consequences of the economic crisis, the performance also speaks about storms in the Mediterranean Sea, which are sinking the migrants ships that set sail from the coast of North Africa to reach Europe-“Brave new world,” to quote Miranda and Aldous Huxley.
In December 2014, Theaterlab hosted a Celebrate the Artist event for Motus, our second collaboration with the famed Italian theatre group. We presented talk backs and mini presentations of their work.
