An uncomfortable comedy about the future of the past

Larry Loonin is a veteran of the early days of the off-Broadway experimental theater movement. He was lucky enough to act in two early OBIE winning productions; The Living Theater's production of THE BRIG and William Ball's SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR. Larry directed one of the first full length plays produced "off-off" at the Judson Poets Theater; PANTAGLEIZE starring George Bartenieff. He created with Yvonne Rainer the seminal "happening" called INCIDENTS at the Cafe Cino. He also wrote or created a number of plays at the Cino including RUN TO THE SEA and THE COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN. He directed Arthur Sainer's VAN GOGH at LaMama and directed Stockard Channing and Jill Clayburgh in THE WAX MUSEUM at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Larry first presented a version of OUR FIRST GOBI FOSSILS starring Michael O'Donoghue which was produced by Paul Libin at the Martinque Theater in 1965. In the early 70's after moving to Boston to teach at Emerson College he co-foundered with Peggy Ings the Charlestown Working Theater. Larry created scripts with the working people of Charlestown, Mass. Ten new scripts in addition to plays by Brecht and others on the left that reflected the lives of the people who lived in the community were produced during Larry's six year tenure. The theater survives to this day.

During the 80's Larry returned to NYC to become the Director of the Theater Program at Lehman College and act in feature films and tv daytime shows. When his daughter was born in 1985 Larry decided to be the primary care taker while his wife continued to film important documentaries. Larry adapted and directed John Byrum's film INSERTS starring Kevin O'conner and Christopher Logue's modern poem on the ILIAD, WAR MUSIC starring Kevin Khulke off-Broadway along with his own production of EXHAUSTING THE POSSIBILITES at TNC

Over the years Larry had a running role on ANOTHER WORLD and a returning role on RYAN'S HOPE and was featured as Creighton Morley on LOVING. You may have seen him recently on the FX channel in RESCUE ME Larry co-starred in Yvonne Rainer's award winning film THE MAN WHO ENVIED WOMEN and had feature roles in THE SCOUT starring Albert Brooks and THE GOLDEN HONEYMOON starring James Whitmore in addition to a supporting role in FIRST DEADLY SIN starring Frank Sinatra and Faye Dunaway. Larry is married to Rose Rosenblatt who has now produced along with her partner Marion Lipshitz a number of award winning documentaries including THE EDUCATION OF SHELBY KNOX. His daughter Julia, a recent graduate of Bowdoin College, is the assistant basketball coach at Wellesley College in Mass. He thanks his good friend Peter Tolan for sponsiring this show along with Carlo Altomare who has brought it to fruition.
