Malinda Ray Allen and Arrington de Dionyso lead participants in removing physical and vocal limitations to move beyond everyday uses of the body and voice. Using Eltesia Integrated Movement, Malinda leads a meditative exploration of each body’s unique potential to generate spontaneous form and power - while releasing the energy blocks that limit our physical sensitivity. Arrington leads vocal improvisation that leads each participant beyond everyday uses of the voice - focusing on multiphonics and experimental vocal techniques, with a special emphasis on Tuvan throat singing.
This workshop is tailored to the needs of each individual participant. Excellent for experienced movers and vocalists, as well as for newcomers looking for a mindful and exciting introduction into movement and voice. Participants will leave the workshop with a enhanced understanding of their own physical and vocal range and unique mode of expression

Malinda Ray Allen creates works of body-based theater and film using subtle physicality combined with athleticisim. She is constantly exploring new ways to travel through spaces, moving in, up, over, and through our usual modes of navigating space. Her role in each production ranges from playwriting and direction, to choreography and performance. Malinda has worked with collaborators ranging from HBO Def Jam artist Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai, to art-punk poet/violinist Alicia Jo Rabins. Her projects have been presented at Dance Theater Workshop, Chez Bushwick, Dixon Place, PS 122, and the inimitable Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance. Malinda Allen is a 2008 Fellow of the Urban Artist Initiative/NYC. Malinda is passionate about helping others see the potential of their own bodies. She helps others live fuller physical lives through private Eltesia movement training, and hands-on bodywork.

Arrington de Dionyso uses performance as a vehicle for driving through the nameless territories held between surrealism, shamanism, and the folk imagery of rock and roll. Arrington performs on the bass clarinet, jaw harps, and his voice using multiphonics inspired by Tuvan throatsinging and the influence of Albert Ayler and Don Van Vliet. Pushing the envelope between musicality and pure energy,he creates spaces engulfed in resonant sound. Arrington has worked with notable improvisers throughout the U.S.A. and Canada, as well as Italy, France, Israel and Lithuania. He presents workshops on improvising with the voice in conjunction with his performances.

I SEE BEYOND THE BLACK SUN is a meshed performance utilizing the body and voice in their most elemental forms. Old Time Relijun frontman, Arrington de Dionyso takes a departure from his experimental punk roots to growl out the voice in its pure form. A series of vocal and physical sculptures, set against a shifting canvas of color and line, Malinda Ray Allen dis-integrates the form, and the human spirit peeks through the cracks.
